TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Upon final payment, the Client is granted an exclusive, but non-transferable licence to use the final, flattened artwork files (JPEG, PNG, PDF) for the agreed publishing purposes (eBook, paperback, marketing teasers).

 

PAYMENT

INITIAL

  • No payment is expected until the 1st of any booking month for all clients. 

  • A contract must be signed upon booking where the client is entitled to a free cancellation until the 1st of the month before their booking month.

  • An email with details for payment is sent on the 1st of any booking month.

  • A 50% deposit of the packages base rate is required before any work begins.

OUTSTANDING BALANCES

  • Upon approval of any design, final payment of the remaining payment (including any additional fees) is required within 7 days.

  • Delays will incur a daily fee of £50.

 

Any other file requests are placed onto a “jobs list” and handled around custom work. These may take up to 14-working days.

PRICES AND PACKAGES

  • Throughout 2024 and 2025, The Pretty Little Design Co. added a "DISCREET FEE" as an additional payment based on project types. This is now added into the fee and all clients can find price listings based on their need for discreet/object-based covers and model-based covers.

AUTHOR ADD-ONS​

  • Additional files, such as additional PDFs for print distribution, hardback covers, audiobooks, foiled editions, teasers, etc, are additional prices.

 

EXTRA CHARGES

Additional charges may happen in instances of delays, extra concepts or revisions that fall outside of the package contents, model manipulation, additional manipulations or author add-ons the Client may request.​

 

Prices laid out by The Pretty Little Design Co. are non-negotiable and subject to change and are only guaranteed at time of receipt for any payment made via the website.

 

IMAGERY

IMAGE EXPENSES

DESIGNER SUPPLIED

  • Any licensed images are used for a solo Client project ONLY.

  • Due to stock sites and stock availability, The Pretty Little Design Co. is not liable if the same or similar imagery appears on other covers or used by other companies.

  • All images will be used for the Client project (eBook, print copies, and any related promotional materials) but is not for resale items beyond the book itself. If the Client requires these rights they are to purchased an EXTENDED licence per image. It may not be reused, resold or applied to other projects or designs without prior written consent.

CLIENT SUPPLIED IMAGES

As of 2026, all images requiring model-based images must either supplied a fully licensed exclusive image from a photographer, or links to appropriate stock model.

If the Client supplies an image for use in the cover design, they retain rights only to that image. All other design elements created by The Pretty Little Design Co. remain part of the commissioned package. The Client is responsible for securing proper rights and permissions for any image they provide and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless The Pretty Little Design Co. against any claims arising from its use.

 

AI USAGE

The Pretty Little Design Co. does NOT use AI-generated images or Generative AI technologies.

In the event of accidental or if a stock sites update their listings, The Pretty Little Design Co. will discuss with the client next steps to rectify. If the Client refuses changes be made, they assume full responsibility for the AI element within the design.

The Client cannot, under any circumstance, submit artwork created by The Pretty Little Design Co. into any AI software which can include using AI, to modify, replicate, replace, or alter in any way the final files. This includes, and is not limited to, concepts, drafts, revisions, or final files. 
If the client is found to have used AI on the Designers files, the Designer is entitled to compensation up to the value of 100%. 

 

OWNERSHIP RIGHTS

  • The Pretty Little Design Co. retains full rights to all artwork they create.

  • Due to the nature of licensing and intellectual copyright, full payment does not enable the Client to trademark any element of a design they have not created themselves.

  • The Client acknowledges they cannot alter or edit any part of the design without permission from the Designer under any circumstance.

  • Due to intellectual copyright the author cannot go to another designer or third-party to copy or recreate book branding in any way.

  • The Designer still owns the rights to all original artworks in PSD form due to intellectual copyright.

  • PSD files are not sent as part of completed custom work.

LICENSING AND USAGE

  • The Client is granted an exclusive, but non-transferable licence to use the final, flattened artwork files (JPEG, PNG, PDF) for the agreed publishing purposes (eBook, paperback, marketing teasers).

  • The Client is only permitted to use the files in the manner they are sent - for example, eBook, paperback PDF, etc.

  • Final files cannot be altered, edited, cropped, copied or used to create new files by the Client or any third-party person.

  • The Pretty Little Design Co. offers PSD files for audio and in the case of publishers seeking rights for separate usage rights.

CANCELLATION

  • Clients have until the month before their booking to cancel their booking free of charge.

  • An email is sent to allow the Client the opportunity to confirm, alter, or cancel their booking.

  • Clients can cancel for free up to a month before their booking after this there will be cancellation fees due to the short notice.

    •  Within the month before, there is a fee of £100. 

    • Within the Clients booking month, the fee is £150.

  • If a Client cancels once a booking slot has begun, they forfeit their deposit and may have to pay for any work started.

  • Deposits are non-refundable and  non-transferable.

 

PSD Files for Audio or Otherwise:

  • The Pretty Little Design Co. endeavours to create opportunities for publishers to purchase access to PSDs for the rights of international publications or audio publications in 2025.

  • Clients can purchase a flattened JPEG audiobook of any of their covers or PDF editions for foreign publications at a cheaper rate.

 

ATTRIBUTION

Any artwork received by the Client from the Designer is required to be credited to The Pretty Little Design Co., whether on social media, final products, sales platforms and/or the Client’s website.

LIABILITY 

  • The Client acknowledges that their approval of a design is final, and therefore takes ownership of the work created between themselves and the Designer.

  • The Pretty Little Design Co. is not liable for damages of any kind, including loss of revenue, profits, business, reputation, or data, in any way related to our graphic design services. 

  • The Pretty Little Design Co. is not responsible for any claim, loss, or injury based on errors or inaccuracies on our site or our clients’ written documents once the cover has been approved.

  • The Pretty Little Design Co. is not responsible for printing presses and final print works.

 

DEFAMATION OF CHARACTER

  • The Client acknowledges that by placing any payment for package or service by the Designer they are agreeing to not post slanderous or hurtful comments on social media and/or third-party platforms that in any way may affect the Designer’s business.

  • Any issues must be brought to The Pretty Little Design Co. attention in order to resolve.

  • Under The Defamation Act of 2013 any posts on social media and/or third party may be liable to legal action and may be fined under this civil law.

 

FULL AGREEMENT

  • Terms and conditions are non-negotiable.

  • These are made agreeable with any purchase via the website, www.theprettylittledesignco.co.uk

  • Full terms and conditions are listed in the contract signed before any work can begin.

  • The agreement is the entire agreement of all parties. No additional promises or conditions, written or oral, apply to the agreement that are not included herein.

Any client purchasing a pre-made cover, will be automatically agreeing to anything listed in these T&Cs and the contract.
